★ Collector Specimen

One of this season's highlighted specimens. Hand-selected, photographed as the exact plant you receive.

Anthurium Papillilaminum × Ace of Spades (SKG), peach variegated. A dark velvet cross carrying warm peach variegation, with a brand new leaf just unfurled.

The cross

Papillilaminum (Panama) is the velvet benchmark: deep, pillowy blades with pale veining, and new leaves that push in warm copper and peach before they harden dark. Ace of Spades brings the spade shaped, near black velvet blade with pale contrasting veins. This is the Ace of Spades line from Silver Krome Gardens (SKG), a foundational Florida aroid nursery behind much of modern Anthurium breeding, so the pollen side carries named, traceable provenance.

Together they read dark and velvety with real substance, and this plant carries peach toned variegation on top. Papillilaminum's warm emergent colour comes through in the variegation itself, so the newest leaf shows the peach at its brightest before it settles. Variegation is guaranteed on this plant. The exact pattern, colour and balance shift leaf to leaf as it grows, so every new leaf is its own.

This specimen

  • Stage: juvenile, established
  • Leaves: 4, newest just unfurled
  • Variegation: Peach toned, visible and guaranteed. Pattern varies leaf to leaf
  • Lineage: Ace of Spades, Silver Krome Gardens (SKG) line
  • Included: Inner pot
  • Notes: Acclimated and ready to ship. Variegated velvet leans on its green, so this one is for experienced growers.

One specimen. Photographed as received. No restock.

Care, briefly

  • Light: Bright indirect, and generous. The green carries the variegation and light holds the peach and the contrast. Direct sun scorches the pale sectors.
  • Water: Lightly and evenly moist, never wet, letting the surface just dry between waterings. Keep water off the velvet.
  • Warmth: 20 to 25°C and stable. With velvet Anthuriums, steady warmth matters more than chasing humidity. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C.
  • Humidity: 65%+ suits a variegated velvet, but consistent warmth and airflow matter more.
  • Mix: Airy, chunky epiphytic mix (bark, perlite and charcoal), fast draining.
  • Pace: A slow, deliberate grower, slower still with variegation. New leaves emerge warm and harden over a couple of weeks. Give it time.
