Alocasia Alba Albo | White Variegated Collector Alocasia
★ Collector Specimen · One Only
The top of this release. White on an already pale blade. The exact plant photographed.
Alocasia 'Alba', albo variegated. A longiloba-type cultivar already prized for its unusually pale, silver-washed blade and hard dark venation — here carrying true albo variegation on top of it.
The plant
'Alba' is one of the few Alocasias that reads light rather than dark. The leaf is a cool silver-green, narrow and sharply lobed, with venation drawn across it in near-black. The contrast is the whole appeal: a pale blade with the vein structure of a much darker plant.
The albo form pushes clean white sectors through that already pale surface. It is a difficult combination to source and a difficult one to grow — which is why it sits at the top of this release rather than in the middle of it.
What you're buying
The exact specimen in the photos. One only. Albo variegation carries no chlorophyll at all, so it is the least stable form there is — sectors can widen, narrow, or revert entirely from one leaf to the next, and heavily variegated leaves grow slower than green ones. That is the trade you are making at this level, and it is priced with that understood.

Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect, consistently. White sectors have no chlorophyll and scorch in direct sun — but too little light and the plant leans on its green tissue and reverts.
- Water: Sparingly and evenly. A heavily variegated plant uses far less water than a green one — go by pot weight, never by schedule. Overwatering is how these are lost.
- Humidity: 65%+. Stable humidity matters more here than anywhere else in the drop; white tissue crisps first.
- Mix: Very airy and fast-draining — bark, perlite, pumice. Never dense soil.
- Warmth: 20–27°C. Nothing below 15°C, no cold draughts.
- Watch: Spider mites on the leaf underside. Check weekly.
- Pace: Slow, and slower the more white it carries. Do not repot or fertilise hard to push it — stability is what keeps the variegation.
