Alocasia Maharani Albo #1 | White Variegated Grey Dragon Alocasia
★ Collector Alocasia · One Specimen
Grey Dragon with white sectors. Stone-textured, stiff, slow. The exact plant photographed.
Alocasia 'Maharani', albo variegated. Known as the Grey Dragon — a compact hybrid grown for texture above all: thick, stiff, almost succulent blades in muted grey-green, with venation sunk so deep the surface reads as scaled.
The plant
Maharani is unlike anything else in the genus to handle. The leaf is rigid and leathery rather than velvet, matte grey rather than glossy, and the sculpting is dramatic enough that the plant reads as an object before it reads as foliage.
The albo form breaks crisp white sectors across that grey blade. Because white tissue carries no chlorophyll at all, expression is genuinely unpredictable — sectors can widen, narrow, or vanish entirely from one leaf to the next.
What you're buying
The exact specimen in the photos. Albo variegation is the least stable form there is, and Maharani is the slowest grower here — expect long gaps between leaves. This is a patience plant, priced for collectors who want it precisely for that.
This specimen
- Cultivar: Alocasia 'Maharani' (Grey Dragon), albo variegated
- Variegation: white sectors present on current growth — see photos
- Ships: in its current pot — minimum stress, maximum arrival health
- Availability: One specimen. Two in this release.
- Notes: Acclimated and established. Low leaf count is normal for this cultivar.
Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect. White sectors have no chlorophyll and scorch in minutes of direct sun.
- Water: Sparingly. Maharani is the most rot-prone plant in this drop — let the top half dry, and err dry rather than wet.
- Humidity: 60%+. Steady beats high.
- Mix: Very airy — bark, perlite, pumice. Never dense soil.
- Warmth: 20–27°C. Nothing below 15°C.
- Watch: Spider mites on the leaf underside. Check weekly in dry rooms.
- Pace: Slow, then slower. Weeks between leaves is normal and not a sign of a problem. Do not repot to force growth.
