Anthurium Black Venom × 'Blue Papi' | High Variegated Clone of Indigo, 1 Leaf
Clone from Indigo · M16Every figure here describes the specimen in the photographs as it is today, not the mother plant.
★ Clone of Indigo · M16
A clone from our in house mother plant Indigo (M16). The mother is not for sale, her clones are. You receive the exact plant photographed.
Anthurium Black Venom × 'Blue Papi'. A one leaf clone from our mother Indigo (M16), with high grade variegation and good roots. The colour on this line changes with the light, which is the whole point of it.
The mother
Indigo has been on our bench since April 2026. Blue Papi is a papillilaminum selection with a cool cast to the leaf rather than the usual warm green or black. Crossed onto Black Venom, that cool tone sits over a very dark base.
In practice she reads bronze to olive in warm light and shifts noticeably blue in cooler light. Heavy texture, strong pale venation, and a broad rounded blade.
This plant is a clone taken directly from her, not a seedling, so it carries her genetics rather than rolling the dice on a new combination. Variegation is already showing here, and the pattern shifts leaf to leaf, so every new leaf is its own reveal.
This specimen
- Type: Clone from mother Indigo (M16), not seed grown
- Stage: Baby, one leaf
- Leaves: 1
- Variegation: High grade
- Roots: Good
- Included: Inner pot
- Notes: Variegated velvet leans on its green tissue, so this one is for growers who already keep velvet Anthuriums.
One specimen. Photographed as received. The mother is shown for reference only.
Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect, never direct, which scorches the velvet and the variegated sections first. Light temperature matters on this line: cooler light brings the blue forward, warmer light pulls it toward bronze.
- Water: Lightly and evenly moist, never wet, letting the surface just dry between waterings. Keep water off the velvet.
- Warmth: 20 to 25°C and stable. With velvet Anthuriums, steady warmth matters more than chasing humidity. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C.
- Humidity: 65%+ suits a variegated velvet, but consistent warmth and airflow matter more.
- Mix: Airy, chunky epiphytic mix of bark, perlite and charcoal, fast draining.
- Pace: One leaf on good roots. Keep it stable and let it build leaf count before you judge the pattern. Give it time.

Indigo
This specimen is a rooted clone taken from her, not a seedling. Same variegation genetics, same leaf architecture, same growth habit. What she looks like today is what this plant becomes.
The photograph is not an illustration of what your plant might become. It is the specification.
