Anthurium Papillilaminum Variegated × Carlablackiae. A one leaf clone from our mother Aurora (M01), with high grade variegation, good visible roots and real size for a single leaf plant.

The mother

Aurora has been on our bench since September 2025, from the Kidda Nursery line. Papillilaminum brings the long velvet blade and the pale venation. Carlablackiae brings the compact rounded heart and the near black surface it is prized for.

Aurora sits between the two: elongated but broad, matte rather than glossy, with venation that reads subtle in low light and pronounced from the side. The variegated parent carries through on her, and her sectoring has held stable across recent leaves.

This plant is a clone taken directly from her, not a seedling, so it carries her genetics rather than rolling the dice on a new combination. The variegation is already showing here, and the pattern shifts leaf to leaf, so every new leaf is its own reveal.

Care, briefly

• Light: Bright indirect, never direct, which scorches the velvet and the variegated sections first. Good light keeps the colour clean.
• Water: Lightly and evenly moist, never wet, letting the surface just dry between waterings. Keep water off the velvet.
• Warmth: 20 to 25°C and stable. With velvet Anthuriums, steady warmth matters more than chasing humidity. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C.
• Humidity: 65%+ suits a variegated velvet, but consistent warmth and airflow matter more.
• Mix: Airy, chunky epiphytic mix of bark, perlite and charcoal, fast draining.
• Pace: One good leaf on visible roots. Let the roots fill the 8cm pot before sizing up, and give the next leaf time to harden. Give it time.
