Anthurium Papillilaminum × Ace of Spades (SKG) | Variegated Clone, 2 Leaves
Every figure here describes the specimen in the photographs as it is today, not the mother plant.
★ Clone · Collector Specimen
A clone taken from a proven variegated mother. You receive the exact plant photographed.
Anthurium Papillilaminum × Ace of Spades (SKG). A two leaf clone with clearly visible variegation and healthy roots. Two benchmark parents, one of them with named nursery provenance.
The cross
Papillilaminum is the Panamanian dark velvet benchmark: broad blades, heavy substance and pale venation. Ace of Spades brings near black depth of colour.
The SKG on this one matters. Silver Krome Gardens is the family run aroid nursery in Redlands, Florida, established in 1981, and their Ace of Spades line is the one serious collectors trace back to. Named provenance on a parent is the difference between a hybrid and a documented hybrid.
Clone, not a seedling
This plant was taken vegetatively from a proven variegated mother, so it carries her genetics rather than rolling the dice on a new seed grown combination. The variegation is already showing on this plant, not promised for later. Sectoral patterns shift leaf to leaf, so every new leaf is its own reveal.
This specimen
- Type: Clone from a proven variegated mother, not seed grown
- Leaves: 2
- Variegation: Good and clearly visible
- Roots: Healthy and visible
- Provenance: Ace of Spades from the SKG line
- Included: Inner pot
- Notes: Rooted and growing. Variegated velvet leans on its green tissue, so this one is for growers who already keep velvet Anthuriums.
One specimen. Photographed as received. Sold once and not repeated.
Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect, never direct, which scorches the velvet and the variegated sections first. Good light keeps the colour clean.
- Water: Lightly and evenly moist, never wet, letting the surface just dry between waterings. Keep water off the velvet.
- Warmth: 20 to 25°C and stable. With velvet Anthuriums, steady warmth matters more than chasing humidity. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C.
- Humidity: 65%+ suits a variegated velvet, but consistent warmth and airflow matter more.
- Mix: Airy, chunky epiphytic mix of bark, perlite and charcoal, fast draining.
- Pace: Two leaves and healthy roots, so it is past the fragile stage. Let it settle before sizing up. New leaves harden over a couple of weeks. Give it time.
