Alocasia Watsoniana Doff Pink | Collector Corm, Small
Every figure here describes the specimen in the photographs as it is today, not the mother plant.
★ Collector Corm
From a mother showing purple variegation, pictured. Inner pot included.
Alocasia Watsoniana Doff Pink — corm, small. The entry point into one of the most structural Alocasia we grow, from a mother carrying pink to purple colour.
The plant
Watsoniana is the heavily textured one: stiff, dark blades with hard silver white venation pressed deep into the leaf and a quilted surface. The Doff form keeps that structure in a tighter, more compact habit.
The mother behind this corm carries pink to purple variegation, shown in the photos. On a leaf this dark and this textured, warm colour reads very differently from the usual white sectoring, and it is why this line stays hard to find.
This corm
- Format: Corm, not an established plant
- Size: Small
- From: The pictured Watsoniana Doff Pink mother
- Included: Inner pot to start it in
- Notes: Corm stage. It needs warmth and moisture to break and root. Grow out is on you.
An honest note on corms: a corm has not leafed out yet, so its variegation cannot be shown, and variegation is never guaranteed to express the same way, or at all, from a corm. The mother is pictured as proof of what the line does, not as a promise for this corm. What you are buying is her genetics at corm pricing, and the odds that come with it.
Starting the corm
- Warmth: 22 to 26°C. Corms break faster with a little bottom heat.
- Medium: Sphagnum or Fluval and perlite, lightly moist, never wet, in a humid covered environment until it roots and pushes its first leaf.
- Light: Low while breaking, bright indirect once it leafs out.
- Patience: A corm can take weeks to break dormancy. Quiet does not mean dead.
