Alocasia Wentii Pink | High Variegated Pup #2
Every figure here describes the specimen in the photographs as it is today, not the mother plant.
★ Collector Specimen · One Plant
The exact plant photographed. Pink tones already coming through.
Alocasia Wentii Pink. A well rooted pup with several leaves, high grade variegation, and pink tones starting to come through. The second of only two we are releasing.
The plant
Wentiu is one of the big growing Alocasia hybrids: thick, glossy, broad blades on strong upright petioles, built to become a floor plant rather than a shelf plant.
That scale is what makes a variegated one worth starting young. Sectoring across a blade that size reads from across a room, and the pattern has more room to spread with every leaf. Pink on top of that is still uncommon in this hybrid.
This specimen
- Stage: Pup, well rooted and healthy
- Leaves: Several
- Variegation: High grade, with pink tones showing
- Pot: 5cm
- Included: Inner pot
- Availability: One plant, photographed as received
Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect, never direct. Good light is what brings the pink forward; too little and it fades back toward green.
- Water: Evenly moist, never wet. A variegated Alocasia drinks less than a plain one, so go easier than you would with a green Venti.
- Warmth: 20 to 26°C and stable. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C.
- Mix: Airy, chunky and fast draining. Semi hydro works well for this genus.
- Pace: A pup in a 5cm pot, so let the roots fill in before sizing up. Alocasia trade leaves as they settle, which is normal, not a problem.
