Alocasia Scabriuscula × Reginae | Rare Hybrid, 2 Leaves
Every figure here describes the specimen in the photographs as it is today, not the mother plant.
★ Collector Specimen · One Plant · Albo × Albo Hybrid
The exact plant photographed. Variegated on both sides of the cross.
Alocasia scabriuscula Albo × Alocasia reginae Albo. A very unusual hybrid that has taken off with collectors across Europe, and it is still genuinely hard to find. Two leaves, medium variegation, and a healthy root system.

The plant
Scabriuscula and reginae are close Bornean relatives, both thick-bladed and sculptural, with the kind of heavy, leathery texture that makes this group so collectable. Crossing them gives a compact, solid plant with real presence.
What makes this one different is that both parents are albo. Variegation is carried in from both sides of the cross, not just one, which is exactly why this hybrid is so sought after and why so few are available.
This specimen
- Leaves: 2
- Variegation: Medium, albo
- Roots: Strong, healthy root system
- Included: Inner pot
- Availability: One plant, photographed as received
Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect, never direct. Good light holds the variegation; the white sections burn first in direct sun.
- Water: Evenly moist, never wet. A reservoir-based setup keeps it steady.
- Warmth: 20 to 26°C and stable. Temperature matters more than humidity here. Nothing below 15°C.
- Mix: Airy, chunky and fast draining. Semi hydro works very well for this genus.
- Pace: Let it build leaf count before sizing up. Alocasia can trade a leaf as they settle, which is normal.
