Alocasia longiloba 'Black Satun' Stardust | Pink Variegated, 4 Leaves
Every figure here describes the specimen in the photographs as it is today, not the mother plant.
★ Collector Specimen · One Plant
The exact plant photographed. Pink stardust variegation visible across current growth.
Alocasia longiloba 'Black Satun' Stardust. Four leaves, high grade variegation, and pink stardust speckling scattered through the blades. This is the version of Black Satun people actually chase.
The plant
Black Satun is the near black longiloba selection: narrow arrow shaped blades, a matte satin surface and pale venation pressed into very dark tissue. Upright, stiff and architectural.
Stardust is the speckled expression, where the variegation lands as scattered flecks rather than solid sectors. On this plant it is coming through pink, which against a near black blade is about as much contrast as this genus offers.
This specimen
- Leaves: 4
- Variegation: High grade, pink stardust speckling
- Included: Inner pot
- Availability: One plant, photographed as received
- Notes: Four leaves already, so this one is past the fussy stage and ready to grow on.
Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect, never direct. Good light keeps the speckling coming through on new leaves; low light pushes it back toward plain black.
- Water: Evenly moist, never wet. Alocasia sulk fast in soggy mix.
- Warmth: 20 to 26°C and stable. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C.
- Mix: Airy, chunky and fast draining. Semi hydro works well for this genus.
- Pace: Speckled variegation varies leaf to leaf, so judge the plant over a few leaves rather than on the newest one alone.
