Anthurium papillilaminum 'LA05' × (forgetii × Ace of Spades DF)
House reference Lyra
Not for sale · her clones are

The specimen
Gold down one half, and it moves every leaf.
Papillilaminum LA05 sits on the seed side. LA05 is one of the tighter papillilaminum selections, narrower blade, deep midrib, pale venation running clean to the edge. It holds its form rather than stretching as it matures.
The pollen side pairs forgetii with Ace of Spades Dark Form. Forgetii rounds the shoulders of the leaf and brings the fine venation. Ace of Spades DF brings the depth, the dark green the gold has to sit against.
Her variegation is gold, not white, and it runs sectoral. One half of the blade comes through near solid green, the other breaks into clean yellow blocks with green speckling scattered through them. The division shifts every emergence, so the next leaf will not be split where this one is.
Gold on a dark velvet leaf is the harder combination to hold. Hers has stayed stable since she came onto the bench.
Every clone taken from her carries that behaviour. You are not buying a pattern, you are buying the plant that produces them.
She is not for sale and will not be.
What is behind her
Where each trait comes from.
A cross is not a blend. Each parent decides different things, and knowing which one is responsible for what tells you a great deal about how a clone from her will grow out.
Anthurium papillilaminum
The backbone of modern velvet breeding, and the parent most likely to decide what a hybrid looks like. It comes from Panama and carries a long, elongated blade rather than a wide heart, with deep basal lobes that open rather than close. The surface is true matte velvet, so it absorbs light instead of reflecting it, and pale venation reads faintly in ambient light and sharply from the side. Petioles are round, which is part of why it crosses so readily with other round-petioled species. It brings substance, meaning the leaf feels thick and holds its shape as it hardens. Expect length over width, a matte finish rather than gloss, and a plant that gets noticeably better as it matures rather than peaking early.
Anthurium forgetii
The only parent here that changes the shape of the leaf outright. Forgetii has no sinus at all, meaning the blade closes completely at the base into a smooth ellipse instead of a heart, and that trait carries through crosses with unusual persistence. Leaves are held pendant on thin petioles, with fine silver venation on a matte surface. It is a smaller, lighter species that adds elegance rather than mass. Where papillilaminum opens the base of a leaf, forgetii pulls it shut, and in a cross between the two the result usually lands somewhere in between. Expect a rounder, more continuous leaf and a more delicate habit.
Ace of Spades
A benchmark dark hybrid line rather than a species, selected over generations for near-black colour and thick leaf substance. The name refers to the shape as much as the colour, a broad spade-like blade with a heavy feel and a matte finish that swallows light. Venation is present but understated, so the plant reads as a block of colour rather than a pattern. Dark Form, usually written DF, is the darker selection within that line and is the one used when colour is the point. It is a colour parent, not a shape parent. Expect depth over drama, and a plant that photographs far worse than it looks in person.
The photograph is not an illustration of what your plant might become. It is the specification.
What a clone from this mother is
Not a seedling. Not a cross. The same plant.
- Every specimen released under Lyra is a rooted clone taken from the plant on this page. No seed. No variation lottery.
- Genetically identical. Same variegation genetics, same leaf architecture, same growth habit.
- What you see above is what yours becomes.
- Grown in Sweden from propagation onward. No import shock between her and your plant.
All variegated aroids carry long-term reversion risk, and no grower can honestly promise otherwise. What you get is her exact genetics and her documented track record, not a guarantee about every future leaf.
