Anthurium (Pterodactyl × luxurians) × (papillilaminum × magnificum) (Variegated)
★ Birthday Anthurium · Featured Specimen
One of this season's highlighted specimens. Hand-selected, photographed as the exact plant you receive.
Anthurium (Pterodactyl × luxurians) × (papillilaminum × magnificum). A four-parent cross where sculptural texture meets dark velvet — lobed, bullate form on one side, silver-veined velvet on the other — here highly variegated.
The cross
The first side, 'Pterodactyl' × luxurians, is all texture and form: 'Pterodactyl' brings a deeply lobed, wavy, almost prehistoric leaf shape, while Anthurium luxurians brings its heavily bullate, quilted, glossy-dark surface. Together they make a sculptural, textured blade.
The second side, papillilaminum × magnificum, is dark velvet with silver-white veining and magnificum's squared petioles. The full cross blends the two worlds — texture and velvet — and this plant carries high variegation on top. Seed-grown and one of a kind; variegated tissue is more delicate and leans on its green to grow.

Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect — never direct, which scorches the variegation and young growth.
- Water: Lightly and evenly moist — never wet — letting the surface just dry between waterings. With the bullate texture, keep airflow so water doesn't sit in the crevices.
- Humidity: 65%+. Variegated tissue browns fast at the edges in dry air.
- Mix: Airy, chunky epiphytic mix — bark, perlite and charcoal — fast-draining.
- Warmth: 20–27°C. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C.
- Pace: Young — give it stability to build leaf count, and the texture and form sharpen as it matures.
Thank you for collecting with us.
One window,three days.
This piece has lived on our shelves long enough to know its rhythm — rooted, photographed, and firm-checked before it joined the Birthday Collection. Year 1 isn't a sale, it's an anniversary — and the plants here were held back from the regular shelves for exactly this window.
One plant. One owner. When she's gone, she's gone.
Rare. Selected. Limited. The way it should be — and the way it always is here.
