Anthurium Black Venom × RVDP (clone)
★ Collector Specimen
One of this season's highlighted specimens. Hand-selected, photographed as the exact plant you receive.
Anthurium Black Venom × RVDP. A dark velvet cross — deep, near-black blades with the heavy texture and pale contrasting venation these velvet hybrids are known for. A seedling, grown on from the mother shown in the final photo.
The cross
Both parents sit at the dark, velvety end of the Anthurium world — near-black blades, a heavy quilted texture and pale veining that lifts off the surface. 'Black Venom' brings depth and contrast; RVDP brings structure and the same dark velvet character.
As a seedling this one is still developing — the depth of colour, the velvet and the veining all build as it matures. It's grown from the mother plant shown in the final photo, so you can see the direction it's heading. A seedling is genetically its own, so expect it to follow that line rather than copy it exactly.

Care, briefly
- Light: Moderate to bright indirect — never harsh. Direct sun scorches the velvet.
- Water: Lightly and evenly moist — never wet — letting the surface just dry between waterings. Keep water off the velvet.
- Humidity: 65%+. Velvet anthuriums brown at the edges in dry air, and a seedling is less forgiving.
- Mix: Airy, chunky epiphytic mix — bark, perlite and charcoal — fast-draining.
- Warmth: 18–25°C. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C; the cooler end of the range deepens the dark colour.
- Pace: A seedling — early growth is slow, and the full dark, velvety character comes with maturity. Give it time.
