Alocasia Hybrid - Calidora × (Pink Dragon × Longiloba) (Variegated)
★ Collector Specimen
One of this season's highlighted specimens. Hand-selected, photographed as the exact plant you receive.
Alocasia Hybrid — Calidora × (Pink Dragon × Longiloba). A big-growing, fast hybrid carrying three strong parents — calidora's size and ribbed structure, Pink Dragon's rose-toned petioles, longiloba's silver-veined dark arrow blade — here with fine, visible variegation.
The cross
Alocasia calidora is the vigorous, upright giant of the group — large, glossy, ribbed banana-like blades on a fast, easy-growing plant. It lends size, speed and structure.
Alocasia 'Pink Dragon' brings the colour — silvery sage leaves with dark veins over distinctive pink-red petioles and stems.
Alocasia longiloba brings contrast and detail — narrow, deeply lobed arrow leaves in deep green with silver-white veining over a purple reverse.
Together they make a large, fast hybrid with structure, coloured petioles and silver veining — and this one carries fine variegation over the blade, irregular and different on every leaf. Variegated tissue is more delicate, so the green still carries the plant. A vigorous corm-grower with no named line behind it — genuinely uncommon material.

Care, briefly
- Light: Bright indirect, and generous — light holds the variegation and the petiole colour. Direct sun scorches the pale sectors.
- Water: A thirsty, fast grower — keep evenly moist in active growth, letting the top of the mix begin to dry between waterings. Never waterlogged; ease off in winter.
- Humidity: 60%+. Variegated edges brown fast in dry air.
- Mix: Chunky, well-draining aroid mix — airy at the roots.
- Warmth: 18–27°C. No cold draughts, nothing below 15°C.
- Pace: Fast and vigorous for an Alocasia — calidora's size comes through, so expect it to move and to want potting up.
